Six things on Sunday

1. A good week for cycling fans – the Commonwealth Games track events last weekend, road racing today. My favourite for the mens race looks like he’s not going to win, but there are a couple more I would like to see win, who are better placed as of 2pm today.

2. It was a busy week for grandparenting. We started by taking them here. It’s a while since we last visited, and I’ve tended to avoid it because it was very busy both times we went. However the VHC wanted to go, and I was surprised how quiet it was, given that it’s school holiday time. Perhaps because it’s quite expensive and we’re heading for a recession.

3. Our second grandparenting outing was a nostalgic trip to ‘the ducky place’. We used to take the VHC there every week when he was a toddler, but he’s a big boy now. However the offer of lunch here and an icecream with the ducks was sufficiently to persuade him and Babybel to go. We had a pleasant walk, although the low water level was worrying.

4. In between days out with the children we had a belated wedding anniversary celebration. Sort of. We went to this – wonderful colours but not at all my style of decoration, followed by lunch here.

5. The only other notable event this week was a visit to the doctors (confirmation that all is well following a change of medication) followed by coffee and cake here.

6. So that’s five on Sunday. But given how often we ate out this week, I foresee a visit to Weight Watchers next week.
